The Birthday Party

The day spoke of summer. Every flower was in picturesque bloom; the cloudless sky showcased a perfect sun, its rays rippling down to the gathering below. Presents piled high in various shapes and colors with cascading ribbons and large bows, perfectly hiding the sweet thoughts within. Crinkling paper formed itself into roses when the secret strings were pulled. Tumbling waterfalls of pink paper curled inward and outward to create a flower that became part of a hanging backyard garden.

Balloons in matching shades swayed with the light breeze, touching each paper flower as if in greeting. The curlicue string hung toward the ground; the coiled tails under each balloon kissed the grass, becoming one with the truest nature below.

Lyrics from songs carried across the wavelengths in the air made the party dance the beats of all life. The outside was made more beautiful with its new melody, one of togetherness and family, harmony, and celebration.

The dessert was a cake, tiered, one, two, three. The pastel dress that draped the princess doll that stood center was sweet to the eyes as it would later be to the tongue. The edible sparkles caught the light of the sun, and she seemed as though she danced, atop a cake that was her stage.

The ground shook lightly as multicolored shoes moved this way and that over every inch of concrete and grass. The music…
